I’m Dave, a family enthusiast who adores my mum, dad, siblings, their partners, offspring, and, of course, my wife. We recently welcomed a little nugget into the world, and I guess I love him too!
From 2014 to 2017, I worked at the up-and-coming Fudge Animation Studios. It was an incredible experience, and I still miss the amazing team there. In 2018, I embraced the freelance lifestyle to explore new creative adventures.
This led to a series of roles, each providing invaluable experience and advancing my career. In 2020, I joined the Ember Lab team, then in 2021, I worked with Red Star 3D on The Amazing Maurice. Finally, at the end of 2021, I joined Steamroller Animation as a Mid Character Animator and was thrilled to be promoted to Lead Animator in June 2023. I’m currently working on some amazing projects at Steamroller and loving every minute of it!
In 2018, I took up singing, which has become a major part of my life. My first quartet won several awards, including the International Quartet Gold Medal in Ireland! I also sing with a chorus called Meantime Chorus. In 2023, Meantime Chorus snagged the BABS title and travelled to the US, where we proudly placed 11th at an international competition. And my new quartet is on the path to winning gold too (is that wishful thinking?).
Here’s a bit about my education; I earned my BA in Animation from the University of Sheffield Hallam and spent two years freelancing as a 2D animator at RJDM Studios. In 2013, I took a leap and moved to Bournemouth to pursue a Master’s in 3D Computer Animation. Not only did I learn a ton, but I also forged friendships that I believe will last a lifetime.
In the summer of 2017, I enrolled in Animation Mentor, where I received invaluable feedback from some of the industry’s top animators. This experience significantly boosted my skills—check out my completed assignments in the 'Animation' section!
Animation is more than just a job for me; it’s my passion. And when I’m not drawing, painting, or animating, you might find me on the basketball court (when my ageing body allows), strumming my classical guitar, learning the piano, or acting as silly as possible to make my son laugh.
